Christmas Memories: Dashing, Nutcrackers, Young at heart

Dashing through the snow

At the Story farm we host Christmas Eve every year with sleigh rides & a wiener roast. We invite all sides of our family and neighbours around us. Everyone comes and gathers around 2:00 pm and that’s when we begin loading the sleigh with Christmas Carollers to sing the classics like Jingle Bells.

Our heated barn is a perfect place for everyone to warm up and have some Christmas cheer and get the hot dogs ready for roasting. It’s always a fun day with the Clydesdales running through the snow with the bells jingling and many voices singing along the way. The best part is sharing this all with our family and friends.

“500 Nutcrackers for Christmas”

I have almost 500 nutcrackers!! People keep giving them to me as Christmas presents. I have them everywhere, and Paul had to make me special shelves to display them all. I only display them at Christmas. Can you imagine dusting those all the time?!!

Photo shows only a small portion of the collection.

Young at heart

My mom, Sada Kilthau, hosted Christmas supper at her home, up until she went into the Western Senior Home at the age of 101 years. Family would share a potluck meal. We still gather as a huge family for supper, and make sure Mom gets out to see everyone.

She is excited to attend our family functions, and has never declined the opportunity, or missed a supper. Sada celebrated her 107th birthday on November 9th of this year.
