George Albert England, born July 4, 1915 at Cappon, Alberta, attended public school in Oyen, Alberta before moving to Calgary, Alberta in 1926. Completing his education at Hepburn College in Calgary, England moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1936 where he attended the University of Alberta obtaining a Diploma in Pharmacy. England worked as a traveling wholesale drug salesman for John Wyeth and Brother (Canada) Ltd. Living at Edmonton, England enlisted at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan February 2, 1942.
England served with the Royal Canadian Air Force attached to No. 428 (Ghost) Squadron as a Flying Officer during the Second World War. On April 21, 1944, Flying Officer George Albert England died following mining operations when his Halifax bomber caught fire in mid-air on its return to RAF Middleton St. George, County Durham, England and crashed nearby. England is commemorated at Brookwood Military Cemetery, Woking, Surrey, England. Son of William Thomas and Minnie Etta (nee Taylor) of Calgary; brother of John Irl, William Carlyle, Margaret, Rose Etta, all of Calgary and Ivy Beatrice of Washington, D.C.
