Thomas Alexander Walker Reid, born November 23, 1923 at Oyen, Alberta, completed his education in Calgary, Alberta before working on the family farm at Oras, Alberta as a tractor and truck driver. Single, Reid enlisted at Calgary, Alberta February 17, 1942.

Overseas December 18, 1942, Reid served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals (Velox Versutus Vigilans) attached to 5 Canadian Divisional Signals as a Signalman during the Second World War. In support of the 1 Canadian Corps Headquarters Signals, the Royal Sigs landed at Pachino, Sicily in July 1943 and on the toe of Italy September 1943 where they took part in Operation Husky.

On January 17, 1945, Signalman Thomas Alexander Walker Reid died of an accidental gunshot wound and is commemorated at Gradara War Cemetery, Italy. Son of John and Edith (nee Gale) Reid of Oras; brother of Pilot Officer William Ferguson Reid (RCAF, died May 22, 1944), Edith and Johnny; he was 22 years old.
