Edward Angus Innes was born August 4, 1891 at Campbellford, Ontario. Single and a farmer by trade, Edward was living at Acadia Valley, Alberta when he enlisted at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in April of 1915. Innes would serve as a Private attached to the Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment) 28th Battalion.

September, 1916, the battalion was fighting in the Battle of Thiepval Ridge, September 26 to 29, part of the greater Battle of the Somme. Scheduled to attack on September 26, the initial attack was postponed due to heavy enemy shelling having knocked out a tank in the area.

Private Innes died September 26, 1916 and is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial in France. The son of Alexander Innes of Campbellford; he was 25.
